The Colorado Railroad Museum is recognized as one of the best privately supported rail museums in the United States. This "can't miss" site for railfans features over 100 historic narrow and standard gauge locomotives and cars exhibited on 15 acres at the foot of North Table Mountain, near Golden, Colorado.

The museum was established in 1959 to preserve for future generations a tangible record of Colorado's flamboyant railroad era, particularly the state's pioneering narrow gauge mountain railroads.

Children's Groups: Advanced reservations are required. Length of stay (90 minutes limit on groups plus time for lunch in picnic area if desired). MAXIMUM 60 children. All groups must be supervised and controlled at all times. We require one adult supervisor for every seven children (ages 10 and up) and one supervisor for every five children (under 10). Supervisors receive free museum admission.

Head Start children pay only $1.00 cents per child; no other discounts apply. The ratio of one adult for every four children is necessary for adequate supervision. Group total not to exceed sixty.

Birthday Parties: Call the office for reservations in our big Colorado & Southern caboose. The caboose holds about twenty people comfortably. Fee is $150.00, which covers admission for twenty people (adults and children), exclusive use of the caboose for an hour and a half, 10" round cake, and a small donation to the museum. Over twenty guests, regular admission applies. The caboose has electric lighting, and heat can be provided in the winter.
Upon scheduling, we will clean out the caboose and lock it until the birthday group arrives. Signs will be posted that caboose is reserved for exclusive use of the party. You must supply party favors and any other needs. Click here for photo of caboose.

Weddings: The museum hosts weddings on the grounds throughout the year. We can provide many different areas for wedding ceremonies: two open platform observation cars, a small park-like picnic grove, and several areas on the museum grounds. The fee is $250.00 for admissions of the wedding party, use of the facility, and a small donation to the museum. We do not provide chairs, tables or any other facilities usually found at outdoor weddings.
